
Eugenio Martinelli (Group Leader)

He is a Full Professor at the Department of Electronic Engineering of Tor Vergata. He was responsible for several national and international projects in biomedical, food, and space application contexts. In 2016 he won the EUROSENSORS Fellowship Award for outstanding contribution in the field of signal processing and data analysis in the sensor field. He held various keynote presentations at national and international conferences. His main research interests are machine learning algorithms, sensors and their interfaces, lab-on-chip, and their biomedical applications. He serves as an associated editor of different international journals in the field of sensors and multivariate data analysis and machine learning. He is the author of six patents and more than 220 publications in international journals and congresses (more than 5100 citations and an H-index equal to 40 on the Scopus database).
Arianna Mencattini

She is an Associate Professor at the Department of Electronic Engineering, University of Rome Tor Vergata. Her main research interests are related to image and video processing techniques for developing computed-assisted diagnosis systems, analysis of speech and facial expressions for automatic emotion recognition, and the design of novel cell analysis algorithms for biological investigations. She has co-authored more than 120 papers in international journals and conferences and she co-edited two books on computerized medical diagnosis.

Erica Debbi

Erica Debbi got her Bachelor’s degree in biotechnology from the University of Rome “Tor Vergata” and earned a Master’s degree in medical biotechnology from the University of Rome “Sapienza” in 2020, completing her Ph.D. in Life Sciences (37th cycle) at the Italian Institute of Technology – Center for Life Nano- & Neuro-Science (CLN2S), under the supervision of Prof. Silvia Di Angelantonio. She has experience with 2D and 3D brain models derived from human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) and a range of advanced techniques including tissue clearing, high-resolution microscopy, viability assays (MTS), RNA extraction, RT-PCR analysis, and calcium imaging.

She is a grant holder at the Department of Electronic Engineering, University of Rome Tor Vergata. Her research interests focus on designing and fabricating Lab-On-Chip devices for biomedical applications, in particular neural cell culture.
